An AI receptionist for salons and barbershops
How a salon or barbershop uses an AI receptionist to book by stylist and service, fill cancellations, and stop losing walk-in-style calls while everyone's hands are busy.

A salon's AI receptionist books the right service with the right stylist for the right length of time, answers prices from your menu, fills cancellations from a waitlist, and handles the reschedules that otherwise interrupt a colour service. Its whole job is to answer the phone nobody at the chair can pick up.
The phone problem in a salon
Every call that comes in while every stylist has hands in someone's hair is a coin flip: interrupt the client in the chair, or let it ring. Most salons let it ring, and most callers do not leave a voicemail. They text the next salon on the list. An AI receptionist answers the call by text within seconds, and books while the stylist keeps working.
Booking by stylist, service and duration
The booking that matters in a salon is not "Thursday at 2". It is "a full balayage with Maria, which takes three hours, and Maria does not do balayage on Saturdays". The AI knows each stylist's services and durations, each one's availability, and your rules about which services need a consultation first. It offers only times that actually work, so nobody discovers on Thursday that the slot was too short.
Prices from the menu
Your service menu, loaded once, is what the AI quotes from. Starting prices for services that vary by length or thickness are quoted as starting prices, with "confirmed at your consultation". It does not invent a number, and it does not discount.
Filling cancellations
A cancellation at 11am for a 2pm colour is lost revenue unless someone texts the waitlist. The AI does that automatically: it messages the clients who asked for an earlier slot, books the first one to say yes, and updates the calendar. Nobody at the front desk has to stop and make five calls.
Reminders that reduce no-shows
A reminder the day before with a one-tap reschedule, and a same-morning reminder for the longer services, are the difference between a no-show and a moved appointment. Deposits for long services are handled at booking, in your words.
The questions it answers all day
Do you take walk-ins. Do you do kids' cuts. What is parking like. Can I bring a photo. Which stylist is good with curly hair. Load the answers once and the AI gives the same answer at 8pm as at 8am, which is more than a tired front desk manages.
Frequently asked questions
Can clients book a specific stylist?
Yes. The AI books by stylist, knows each one's services and hours, and offers only real availability.
What about Instagram DMs?
When Instagram is connected, DMs land in the same inbox and are answered from the same menu and rules. Most salons get more booking enquiries by DM than by phone.
Does it handle deposits for colour services?
It explains your deposit policy and sends the payment link at booking. The slot is held once the deposit clears, and released if it does not.
What Frontiva does here
The salon page shows the flow. In Frontiva every service has its own duration and buffers, each stylist has a rota and the services they are qualified for, clients book on your public booking page, and SMS reminders go to clients who agreed. Waitlists and charged deposits are not built yet. See booking buffers and turnaround time for keeping a long colour service from running into the next client.
